The Hawks are looking for a man believed to have been running a drug lab in Rietfontein near Randfontein in Gauteng.Chemicals, equipment and drugs with a street value of R10 million were seized.
An anonymous tip off led police to this West Rand property, they uncovered a multi-million rand lab.
“The members who were on duty yesterday received information that there was a factory here,” says National Head of Directorate Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza.
According to police the owner of the plot died in 2014, his 76 year old widow says an unknown man arrived, claiming her husband had sold half the plot to him.
He then proceeded to erect shelters in which the drugs were manufactured.
The man is believed to have had four assistants.
Investigations continue.
