PRETORIA - XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS CONTINUE AS ATTERIDGEVILLE BURNS AND CBD SHUT DOWN

The entrance to Atteridgeville has been blocked ahead of the anti-foreigner march expected to take place on Friday.

Angry mobs have barricaded the entrance with rocks and tyres.

“All businesses are closed, nothing is operating at this stage. Even the clinic is closed,” said one resident.

“We do not understand why this chaos has erupted because the march is taking place in Pretoria CBD.”

Eyewitnesses said they believed the planned march would not be peaceful.

Protesters from Soshanguve were already making their way to the CBD as early as 07:00.

Protesters were carrying pangas and petrol bombs.

All shops in Pretoria CBD have been closed.
